Salvatore Parisi, a solitary explorer, has ventured into a variety of fields over the past forty years, guided by an innate instinct and insatiable curiosity for human activities. His journey began in the rural and industrial world of his childhood in the Lorraine region. From there, he delved into ceramics, initially learning in Vaucluse, before engaging in humanitarian work at a leprosarium in Jaipur, India. His artistic odyssey then led him through various artistic encounters within his Mediterranean ceramic studio. Salvatore Parisi embodies a spirit of dialogue and exchange, enjoying opening his space to other artists. Collaborating with artists such as Arman, Baviéra, Blais, César, Courtright, Diffring, Diracca, Eli, Galassi, JP Gault, B Pagès, Piano, Seund Jha Rhee, and R Soardi, unique ceramic creations have emerged, reflecting his fruitful inspiration.
Simultaneously, he has co-created art books with painters, writers, and poets such as F Delville, Michel Bohbot, J Forneris, R Monticelli, T Reut, P Rosiu, and A Scholtès. His works now grace prestigious collections at the National Museum of Ceramics in Sèvres, the Municipal Ceramic Museum in Vallauris, and Biot. Salvatore Parisi, whose spirit of inquiry has guided him through an exploration devoid of allegiance to any specific school, primarily considers himself self-taught. To him, playing truant from conventional education represents a genuine “Royal Road” to opening up to knowledge of the world and its people.
