GUILLOT Marcel
1910-1985
Studied at the Ecole des arts appliqués à l’industrie, where he made friends with Pierre Fouquet.
He spent some time at the Manufacture de Sèvres, then opened his own workshop in Paris, starting with an electric kiln, which was still rare at the time. He then moved to St-Maur des Fossés.
After the war, he and Pol Chambost organised the first Salon des Céramistes d’art de France, in 1949, at La Maison de la Chimie, with 59 exhibitors. This became the Salon des Ateliers d’Art de France, and Marcel Guillot was its president for a long time, before Jacques Blin.
He took part in many shows for his ceramics, but also for his painting.
He employs around thirty people in his workshop, and produces mass-produced pieces as well as stoneware. He sells to department stores in France and the USA.
