An artist of simple gestures, Dominique Pouchain began his learning in 1973 in the workshop of his parents, Jacques and Rolande Pouchain. In 1977 he registered as a craftsman with the Chamber of Trades, first producing utility pottery, before trying out animal sculpture. His works can be recognized among a thousand, pieces of a deep matte black which absorbs light, the use of oxide juice is his favorite signature.
Increasingly inclined towards personal work, in 1989, when the Galerie workshop opened in Dieulefit, Dominique Pouchain abandoned his utilitarian production to devote himself entirely to animal sculpture and his bestiary.
The heart of his work lies in the constant research of light and matter. A true enthusiast, the artist works tirelessly and his sculptures come to life in numerous private collections both in France and abroad.Little by little, his black works are also adorned with bronze and reinvent themselves towards new creative horizons.
