Founded in 1965 from a prosperous family saddle workshop in Klingnau, in northern Switzerland near the German border, the family-owned business gradually started collaborating with designers worldwide to create high-end leather chairs, armchairs, and sofas, all handmade. Over the years, the product range expanded to include tables, beds, and much more. De Sede’s signature style is characterized by generous proportions balanced with elegant silhouettes, emphasizing quality craftsmanship for durable and long-lasting products.
The company gained recognition with its iconic modular sofas, becoming symbols of 20th-century design, such as the DS-600 by Berger, Peduzzi, Vogt & Ulrich (1970). De Sede has always emphasized the “Made in Switzerland” label.
At the heart of De Sede’s philosophy lies reverence for the complexity and beauty of handmade furniture in an age where mass-produced items are the norm.
Among the best-selling models is the DS-600, introduced in 1972. Also known as the Non Stop sofa, it features sensual and sinuous curves, with individual pieces that can be zipped together to create multiple variations and arcs.
